Bhilai, Feb 15: A grand flower show was organised at Rajendra Park under the auspices of Durg Municipal Corporation under the guidance of Durg MLA (urban) Arun Vora and Durg Mayor Dheeraj Bakaliwal and on the initiatives and efforts put in by Satyavati Verma, Environment in-charge of the Corporation. Arun Vora, Durg Mayor Dheeraj Bakliwal, Speaker Rajesh Yadav, Congress President Gaya Patel, former MLA Pradeep Chaubey, Pratima Chandrakar, erstwhile SADA President Laxman Chandrakar who were the guests were welcomed. District Collector Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, Dr Rashmi Bhure, Durg Commissioner Indrajit Burman, former Mayor RN Verma and all MIC members, Councilors and citizens in large number enjoyed the flower show.
Apart from providing civic amenities to the public, the Corporation also has the responsibility to protect the environment and arrange recreational activities for public health. This is the second year of the Flower Show in Rajendra Park and through this Durg Mayor Dheeraj Bakaliwal has tried to fulfill some responsibility, said Arun Vora addressing the function.
He said that the development works which have been stalled in the city for 15 years have now gained momentum. As per the intent of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, funds have been provided for widening of the roads in the Durg city, along with developing Thagna Bandh as a tourist destination.
Mayor Dheeraj Bakliwal in his address said that this is the second time that DMC has organised a program for healthy recreation and earlier people around knew Bhilai Steel Plant as the only organization to organise flower show at Maitri Bagh.
The popularity can be gauged from the huge tournout at the flower show. In this show, he added along with exhibition of various species of plants, Rangoli and drawing competitions have also been organized.
Also on display are the various welfare schemes of the state government He appreciated MIC in-charge Satyavati Verma who has been working hard since the last 15 days for the success of this Flower Show.
He said that different stalls have been set up for the entertainment of the public, an exhibition of goods manufactured by the women self-help group has also been organized, cultural program has also been organized. Congress General Secretary Rajendra Sahu, Kshitij Chandrakar, MIC Abdul Gani, Deepak Sahu, Jayashree Joshi Jamuna Sahu, Rishabh Jain, Sanjay Kohle, Bhola Mahobia, Shankar Singh Thakur, Mandeep Singh Bhatia, Hamid Khokhar, Anoop Chandania Alderman Ajay Gupta, Krishna Devangan, Ratna Naramdev, and thousands of general public were present.
