DMC celebrates Hareli in Gokul Nagar Gauthan with traditional fervour

Bhilai, Aug 09: Durg Municipal Corporation celebrated festival of Hareli at the Gokul Nagar Gauthan. Arun Vora, MLA Durg (urban) and Durg Mayor Dheeraj Bakliwal, DMC Speaker Rajesh Yadav, Commissioner Haresh Mandavi offered loaf of flour and other medicines to livestock after first offering worshiping cattle.
Other prominent persons present during this program were Finance Department in-charge Deepak Sahu, Environment In-charge Satyavati Verma, General Administration Incharge Jayshree Joshi, Education Department In-charge Mandeep Singh Bhatia, Shankar Thakur, Councilor Satish Devangan, Brijlal Patel, Himeshwari Nishad, Alderman Rajesh Sharma, Ratna Narmdev, Ajay Gupta, Dev Sinha, Jagmohan Dhimar, Executive Engineer Jintendra Samaiah, Assistant Engineer RK Palia, Assistant Building Officer Girish Dewan, Health Officer Durgesh Gupta and Virendra Thakur.
The MLA, Mayor, DMC Speaker, MiC members, Corporators plangted saplings of different species in the premises of Gokul Nagar, Gauthan. Stalls of products prepared under Godhan Yojna such as items made from cow dung, incense sticks, paste, gojile, pot, rakhi, super compost, organic manure, cow urine, idols made of cow dung etc were put on display. A stall was also there displaying the
items made by women such doormat, compost made from tea leaves, pickle, chilli and Chhattisgarhi cuisine was also set up by the women.
This is the first time that the festival of Hareli has been celebrated as a festival in the entire state. The MLA Arun Vora said that by taking a ride on Gedi and playing Bhavra, he was reminded of his childhood days. He congratulated the general public for the festival. The Mayor on his part applauded the Chief Minister and said that earlier Hareli festival was celebrated at home, but now the Chief Minister has promoted it to be a public celebration.
The MLA, Mayor, Commissioner, Chairman and MIC members enjoyed Gedi and Bhaura. The opportunity was taken to sell organic fertilizers to the farmers. Block President Ajay Mishra, Rajkumar Pali, Dr Wasim, Dr Damini Deshmukh, Mayub Ali, Kanya Dhimar were also present.
