Dengue larvae found at several houses in Sector 04

Bhilai, Jun 18: Dengue larvae have been found at many houses in Sector 04 of Bhilai Township. After receiving several complaints, BMC Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi accompanied by the BMC health staff conducted inspection at several houses in Sector 4.
They checked whether water is lying unattended in pots, tanks, coolers etc. The team examined the tanks and found larvae at several places. The larvae were immediately destroyed by spraying Temiphos.
During the inspection, action was taken against 10 houses and fine was imposed on them. Commissioner has constituted a special team and instructed to conduct intensive checking and spraying Temiphos in each and every house of Sector 04.
Further, burnt oil and malaria oil will be sprayed at the places of water logging occurs so that the effect of dengue could be eliminated at the primary level itself.
BMC Health Officer Dharmendra Mishra informed that during the inspection of the houses, they found that the coolers were not cleaned for long. The old containers and water tanks were also not cleaned due to which the dengue larvae got an opportunity to grow there.
After receiving the complaint, BMC Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi inspected various houses of Sector 04, during which larvae were found in cement tanks and other containers in many houses, which were immediately killed by spraying Temiphos.
The continuous monitoring of the places of cleanliness and water logging and the sources of larvae in the area has been started by the health staff of Bhilai Municipal Corporation. A fine of Rs 500 – 1000 was also collected from the people of more than 10 houses where larva was found.
The penalty will be doubled if there is negligence is found during next inspection. Corporation Commissioner has appealed to the common citizens not to let the water stagnate for a long time in view of the rainy season and to change the water tank and cooler water
regularly.
Corporation Commissioner Raghuvanshi chaired a meeting with the zone health officers, supervisors and field workers of all the zones and took feedback on the work being done regarding dengue control.
He directed them to examine every source of larvae and destroy the larvae. In the meeting, the employees informed the Commissioner about some equipment and technical problems. He assured to provide the necessary materials to the health officers soon.
During the intermittent rains, the chances of larvae breeding increases in the pots, water tanks, tyres and other unusable containers which get filled with rain water.
