DGP tours region to foil drug smuggling

Gaurela Pendra Marwahi,Oct 28: After the instructions of CM Bhupesh Baghel to stop ganja smuggling through Chhattisgarh adjoining Gaurela Pendra Marwahi district, DGP DM Awasthi conducted a tour of the region in person. The CM has already instructed DGP DM Awasthi to make a check post on the inter-state border to stop the smuggling of drugs.  The district connects Chhattisgarh with Madhya Pradesh and smugglers from Odisha take ganja from these routes via Chhattisgarh to Madhya Pradesh and other states. A month ago, it was revealed that ganja worth more than Rs 600 crore from Andhra and Odisha goes through Chhattisgarh to the whole country.  The DGP, who arrived on his two-day tour, inspected the police stations of the district. Apart from this, he also visited the inter-state border Kabir Chabutra and the inter-state border Jaleshwar. He has also given necessary instructions to the officials regarding the border. At the same time, DM Awasthi, who visited the district, said that on the instructions of the Chief Minister, we are making constant efforts to continue the strictness.
During his tour, DM Awasthi also visited Amarkantak. He performed Rudrabhishek at the Narmada Udgam temple in Amarkantak and worshiped Maa Narmada.  DGP Awasthi himself drove the car to reach Gaurela from Amarkantak. The DGP said that he had a desire to come here since the formation of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district. All the officials including Bilaspur IG Ratanlal Dangi, District SP Trilok Bansal, Collector Namrata Gandhi also met the DGP.
