Paddy procurement lapses effecting marginal farmers

Mungeli, Nov 21: Due to the extension of date of paddy procurement in the district, there is frustration among small and medium farmers, while on the other hand middle men are on the prowl, and reports of them getting active have come. With the advice of the procurement dates, the problems of the farmers have started increasing. According to farmers political tug and war, a double trouble has started, and as the issue of farmers interest was raised by the Congress in power, but the situation is that the farmers feel cheated and are being forced to sell their hard earned crops in meager values. Meanwhile opposition BJP has accused the State Government in saying that after coming to power, the procurement of paddy, which started from November 15, has been extended, due to which the farmers are at loss, and the middlemen are getting active, thereby killing the rights of the farmers. Farmers are worrying about their paddy, weather the government will give a fair price for the yield or not. A farmer from Navagoan, said that earlier he had to make a lot of effort to complete the registration, and has to wait another 15 days to procure his crop. The round of accusations regarding the purchase has the same input from many other farmers, and many of them have to sell their crop to middle men in Rs 1400-1500 only.
