BSP signs MOU with CREDA for Solar Power Plants in Township
Bhilai, Apr 09: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between SAIL-Bhilai Steel Plant and Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) for installation of Solar Power Plants at various locations in the township identified by BSP. The MoU was signed at ED (P&A) Conference Hall in the presence of Mukhopadhyay ED (Projects) & ED (P&A) and other Senior officials. The signatories for the MoU were JY Sapkale, CGM (TSD & CSR), from BSP, and Rajeev Gyani SE from CREDA. Other senior officers present were Sanjeev Jain, Chief Engineer (CREDA), SV Nandanwar, CGM
(Special Projects), Rajeev Pandey, CGM (PP1), T Krishna Kumar, CGM(Electrical), HS Bains, GM (Law), Dinesh Kumar, GM (TEED), AK Chouhan, DGM (TEED), and Vishnu Pathak, GM (Civil).
The Government of India has commitments towards Green Energy at national level. As a part of intended nationally determined contribution (INDCs), under the MNRE Phase-II scheme India has committed to enhance the country-wide solar power generation capacity to 38,000 Megawatt by the end of 2024. Abiding by the MNRE Guidelines towards development of renewable energy the Town Electrical Department (TEED) of Bhilai Steel plant, has taken the initiative of adopting solar energy for sustainable development.
BSP entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CREDA, a State Government’s Nodal Agency for development and promotion of non-conventional & renewable sources of energy, for “Selection of the Firm (System Integrator) with price discovery for placing of order for “Supply, Installation testing & commissioning of grid connected Solar Power Plants” at various locations in the township. Under the MoU, BSP will conduct a joint survey based on a feasibility report submitted by CREDA. So far 11 Residential locations have been identified for installation of Solar Power units, which include, Ispat Bhavan JLN Hospital & Research Center, MTT Hostel, Vizag Hostel, Bokaro Hostel, Senior Secondary School, Sector-10, etc.
