Central Chronicle News
Bhilai, May 14: To deal with the possibility of water logging in view of the unprecedented rains that has taken place over the last few days, Risali Municipal Corporation has taken up the cleaning work of canal in a phased manner.
The debris of the 5-km-long canal is being extracted through a chain mounted machine. Municipal Corporation Commissio-ner Prakash Kumar Surve on Friday reached Pragati Nagar and inspected the cleaning work in pogress.
The Commissioner instructed that the cleaning work should be done in such a way that there is no stagnation of water. He checked canal cleaning work near Pragati Nagar and Shanti Kunj and cautioned that special care should be taken to ensure that the drinking water pipeline is not damaged during the cleaning work.
It is noteworthy that the drainage system in the Risali Corporation area is through the means of a canal. The rain water and dirty water flows from the sewer into the canal flowing under the railway tracks and then drains into Pulgaon Nullah in Durg. If the cleaning of the canal and sewer is done waterlogging could be reduced to almost being negligible.
At the time of inspection, Prakash Surve was accompanied by health department in-charge Jagarnath Kushwaha, health inspector Brijendra Parihar, supervisor Birendra Deshmukh, Satish Dewangan and others were present.
