BMC undertakes special cleanliness campaign

On the instructions of Bhilai Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi, a special cleaning drive is being conducted in the areas under the Bhilai Municipal Corporation limits. Small teams of sanitary workers have been created and the teams are removing waste/garbage by moving around in specified areas to meet the Swachh Survekshan 2021 criteria. In this sequel, 15 teams of sanitary workers covered the entire Dakshin Gangotri area and took up cleaning work. A total of 150 sanitary workers were involved. Each team consisted of 10 workers. While some were cleaning the drain, others were busy in cleaning the roads, some others the inner lanes while another team were emptying the twin bins, some were cutting the bushes, others were collecting door-to-door garbage from the shops. As a result of the cleanliness campaign, a major portion of the garbage has been removed from Dakshin Gangotri area. Apart from the main road, cleaning operations were carried out in lanes as well. A supervisor was attached with each team who was continuously monitoring the drive. The door-to-door garbage collection was done from the shops by engaging e-rickshaws in the cleaning work and hygiene related instructions were being given on loudspeakers. It is noteworthy that Dakshin Gangotri area being a big market, the area was freed from garbage by running a cleanliness drive here. Health in-charge of the zone Ankit Saxena was present in the special cleanliness campaign.
