BMC demolishes encroachments in prime location

Bhilai, Aug 27: In an operation conducted jointly by the special Squad, Revenue Department and demolition squad of Bhilai Municipal Corporation, action was taken against illegal encroachment and illegal occupation at four places in the city. Encroachment was removed from a prime location in Dakshin Gangotri.
The applicant Vaibhav Virwani, while submitting an application before the Collector and Administrator of Bhilai Municipal Corporation, Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, had demanded action against encroachment on the vacant plot of the Corporation located in Dakshin Gangotri. Within 24 hours of the receipt of the application, the site was freed from encroachment by taking prompt action on the instructions of the Corporation Commissioner Rituraj Raghuvanshi.
The team of the corporation under the leadership of Sunil Agrahari, the nodal officer of the special squad, got the encroachment cleared from the vacant plot of the corporation. There is a vacant plot of approximately 450 sq ft in Dakshin Gangotri which is located in Block No 3 and Plot No 19, next to Avon Electronics.
This place was occupied by one Mohammad Rafique who had raised a tin shed, which in fact is a vacant plot in the middle of the plots allotted under Dakshin Gangotri Yojna. Not only this, the illegal occupant had also deposited the property tax of this plot to grab it.
When this matter came to notice, the corporation immediately got scrutinized the property tax, self-assessment return, and spot inspection. No record was found related to the land ownership of the plot / building, and therefore, the ID issued on 24 December 2020 for property tax was cancelled and the deposit amount of Rs 60604 was forfeited.
Action was taken at three other places on illegal occupation, illegal construction and encroachment, other than Dakshin Gangotri in Khursipar area. On the instructions of Additional Commissioner Ashok Dwivedi action was taken against a tin shed occupancy close to English Medium School near Shri Ram Chowk for hotel business, a pullcart by another person for selling
breakfast etc.
Illegal construction from both these places was demolished and evacuated. Near Khursipar gate close to the highway a building owner was making an additional construction and a 4 feet high wall had been erected on the service road it was also demolished with the help of earthmover.
During this operation, Balkrishna Naidu of Special Squad, Assistant Revenue Officer Sharad Dubey, Mangal, Chetu, Kanhaiya, Gaukaran and Rajendra of Demolition Squad were present.
