Encroachments halt even minor developmental work

Fingeshwar, Jun 04: A major encroachment mission is prevailing in the area, with land acquisition for minor developmental work under hold, due to shortage of land availability. Government land, demarcated for developmental projects, has been encroached and this constitutes to many acres of which many are on the onset of construction.
According to government records more than a million hectares of land under government control are now in private hands, with many also sold multiple times. Many wide roads have also been cut open to side paths, which are further being sold for hefty amounts, have led to a situation, wherein the entire region stands cramped under illegal hoarding of land by small and big time land mafia.
Having crossed more than a decade as Nagar Panchayat, building agreement is still not under implemented fully in the area and this is being considered by people as the biggest reason behind nooks and corners of the area being sold and encroached.
In a recent twist, a part of a local crematorium was also encroached and construction was seen underway. Though the local people and Municipal Aldermen of many wards have openly raised their voice against the illegal plotting, the encroachment continues to thrive, due to the ongoing pandemic and government offices still struggling to work in shifts. According to a senior official of the Nagar Panchayat, soon strict action will be taken against the encroachments, and stringent laws will be passed to stay illegal
plotting.
