Apply natural rules of forests to enrich the fields for farming: Acharya Devvrat
Central Chronicle News
Bhilai, Nov 28: On Sunday, Governor of Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat visited JS Farms situated in Dhaurabhatha of Dhamdha Development Block of the district to attend the farmers’ convention. Founder of JS Farms, Wazir Singh Lohan had organised a convention on the topic “Poison Free Farming, Poison Free Kitchen”.
Acharya Devvrat took a round of the 450 acres JS Farms and JS Dairy and appreciated the innovative ideas applied here to conduct organic farming. Later he participated in the convention and conducted discussion with the common people and farmers. Sharing his previous experience of farming; he informed that the Gurukul of Kurukshetra owned 200 acres of agricultural land out of which they cultivated 100 acres and the remaining 100 acres was given on contract to other farmers.
After 3 years, the farmers who had taken the land on contract, suddenly stopped farming and returned the land after making it barren. When they got the soil tested of the land, the organic carbon of that soil was recorded at 0.54, which is considered to be barren land.
The agricultural scientists advised that the land can be reversed in 10-15 years by balanced use of chemical fertilizers. But following the principle of nature, Acharya Devvrat initiated farming using Jeevamrut manure. Within two years, the soil regained its fertility and the field yielded a very good crop.
The main topic of discussion was how the farmers should harmonize modern farming with traditional farming and how to promote organic farming. He appealed to the people that if they find anything good, join it immediately and use your discretion to achieve success.
He asked the farmers to give place to native cows in their homes as they have the capacity to produce 300 to 500 crore bacteria, which proves to be very useful for the soil. He spoke about the importance of earthworms in agriculture and appealed to the people that by crop diversity they can also contribute to the environment.
Crop diversity creates the cover which maintains the earth’s temperature and prevents it from increasing. In this manner, the farmers can help to control global warming. He added that by practicing natural farming, we can produce crops without disturbing the mother earth.
He further said that in order to provide fertile land to the coming generation, it is necessary to follow the same rules in agriculture which are naturally followed in the forests.
Explaining the benefits of organic farming, he appealed to the farmers to take their step forward in this direction. He urged the farmers to provide economic strength to the country, recharge the groundwater and provide pure drinking water to the coming generations, save the indigenous cow and thereby save the family.
Farmers can save the people from visiting hospitals by providing poison free food grains to the kitchen. They can also make significant contributions in controlling problems like global warming. Anil Chauhan, progressive farmers and common people were present on the occasion.
