Central Chronicle News
Bhilai, Jul 29: On instructions of Superintendent of Police (Durg) Prashant Agrawal and guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Kavilash Tondon, a special checking camp was organised here at Police Ground in Sector 6 to check the ambulances for compliance of AIS 125 standards.
The joint team of Traffic Police and Transport Department led by DSP (Traffic) Gurjeet Singh examined the ambulances. A total of 116 government and private ambulance vehicles are being operated in the district. The team is going to examine whether these vehicles are being operated as per the standards of AIS 125.
On the first day, 16 ambulances from Sparsh Hospital, BM Shah Hospital, Life Care, Shankaracharya Hospital and Government Hospital were checked. Out of which 02 Ambulances were not found upto the AIS 125 Standard. The ambulance owners were asked to rectify the deficiencies and get the vehicle re-examined within a week.
It needs to be mentioned here that Automotive Industry Standard – 125 (AIS – 125) is the National Ambulance Code which specifies the constructional and functional requirements of Category M (four wheelers) and L (two and three wheelers) vehicles used for transport and / or emergent care of patients (road ambulance).
It was noticed during the Covid 19 transition period that the Ambulances were increasingly used in transporting the patients from houses to hospitals and returning back. Many ambulances were being operated without compliance of the AIS 125 standard. Considering the situation, the vehicle checking camp has been organized in which the ambulances operating in the district will be examined regularly.
Inspector Prashant Sharma (Transport Department), Inspector Sangram Singh (Traffic Incharge Civic Center Zone), Sub Inspector Prakash Singh, ASI Dayalu Ram and health department employees were present.
