SUV jumps off flyover; three killed, seven injured

Bhilai, Oct 10: Three people were killed and seven others injured when a speeding car fell off the flyover situated on Anjora – Nehru Nagar Bypass of National Highway 53 in the wee hours of Sunday. The deceased include the car driver as well as two pedestrians, who were on morning walk. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed grief over this terrible road accident.
According to information, eight youths of Ashwini Nagar, Raipur had gone to Dongargarh temple in a Tata Safari SUV bearing registration number CG13-UD-9900. During their return journey, the driver lost control over the vehicle after which the vehicle fell off the flyover at Damadpara in Urla area.
The vehicle fell over the two pedestrians, who were going towards Belodi Anicut for morning walk. The pedestrians Avinash Tamrakar (34) son of Ramkishore Tamrakar a resident of Shankar Nagar and Roshanlal Soni (31) son of Eknath Soni a resident of Ram Nagar, Urla as well as the SUV driver Purendra Sahu (23) son of Hemchand Sahu a resident of Ashwini Nagar, Raipur died during treatment in the hospital.
Seven other occupants of the car were injured in the incident. On information, the rescue team reached the spot and with the help of locals, they were shifted to the hospital.
The injured include Ujjwal Dewangan (21 son of Rameshwar Dewangan; Sourabh Saroj (23) son of Gajendra Saroj, Krishna Tamrakar (16) son of Rajesh Tamrakar, Dheeraj Dewangan (16) son of Rameshwar Dewangan, Saddam Ansari (28) son of Salim Ansari, Bhavya Sahu (15) son of Hitesh Sahu and Amit Sahu (23) son of Ramadhar Sahu, all residents of Ashwini Nagar, Raipur. All the injured have been admitted to Durg District Hospital for treatment. Their condition was reported to be out of danger.
The deceased pedestrians Avinash and Roshanlal were friends and used to have morning-walk and visit Belodi Anicut on Sundays. Avinash was married and was a father of a small child. He was engaged in utensil manufacturing at home while Roshanlal Soni worked as Assistant Grade -3 in District Court.
Roshanlal was earlier posted in Mungeli and was transferred to Durg a few days ago. When they did not return home till 12:00 hrs, the family members started searching for them.
Later, their relatives came to know about the accident after which they reached the mortuary of Durg District Hospital and identified the bodies. Police have registered an offence.
