Special camps to focus on improving children’s immunity

Bhilai, Jun 18: Considering the possibility of third wave of Covid 19 and anticipation of children getting infected, the district administration has launched its exercise and is making concrete preparations to deal with such any adverse situation. On the instructions of Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, the officers of the Task Force associated with it are working on an intensive action plan. Under this action plan, medical facilities for children are being strengthened as well as efforts are being made to avert serious infection among children.
Accordingly, special efforts are being made in the direction of increasing the immunity of children. The family members are being told about the importance of nutritious food for improving immunity. Anganwadi workers are visiting the houses and camps are being organized on a large scale in rural areas.
Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure has instructed to pay special attention on the malnourished and frequently ill children. He has asked the Health Department, Mitanin and Anganwadi workers to coordinate among themselves for this task. In compliance with the Collector’s orders, health check-up of 23 such children was conducted at Baal Sandarbh Shivir held at Health Centre in Gadadeeh (of Patan) under the project of Women and Child Development Department.
Dr Katare and Dr Deepak Thakur extended valuable contribution in conducting the camp. Supervisor Namrata Tiwari and Anganwadi workers were present. Multivitamins, medicines, protein powder etc were immediately made available to the children by the Women and Child Development Department after examination. After discussing with the Block Medical Officer Ashish Sharma, medicines were already made available at the camp site.
Efforts are being made by the department that health check-up of all such children should be done within a month and necessary advice can be given to their parents, so that we will be able to deal with the upcoming challenges. A similar health camp will be organized in Selud on June 19 at village Teligundara on June 21. Project Officer Sumeet Gandecha said that following the instructions of the District Collector, they are getting 20 to 25 children examined at a time while following social distance and Covid guidelines.
As the vaccine for COVID-19 for children is in the trial stage, it is very important that maximum attention is paid to the immunity of children. For the purpose, it is necessary to run the nutrition and other vaccination programs smoothly. Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure has given instructions to collect information from the staff.
The health department has been directed to prepare a list of sick children suffering from diseases like sickle cell, etc. Separate lists of children whose parents have taken the COVID-19 vaccine and those who have not, are being prepared. The Health Department has been asked to lay special emphasis on screening and sampling.
Instructions have been given to implement Kishori Balika Yojana and Chirayu Yojna in the best possible way so that the nutritional level of children can be improved. Collector has also given instructions to prepare a check list by conducting a joint survey for the nutrition of children.
