SSP reaches among children at Jeora Sirsa Government School

Bhilai, Nov 21: As per the instructions of Police Headquarters Raipur, ‘Child Safety Week’ was organized in district Durg during November 14 to 20 under the “Abhivyakti” programme. Senior Superintendent of Police (Durg) Badri Narayan Meena, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural Anant Sahu, Probationary Superintendent of Police Jitendra Yadav, Additional Superintendent of Police (IUCAW) Meeta Paway attended the closing ceremony at Government Higher Secondary School, Jevra Sirsa.
Ajay Kalyani of Kalyani De-addiction Centre; Government Higher Secondary School Jevra Sirsa In-charge Principal Sarita Soni, teachers and staff were present. At the outset, Additional Superintendent of Police (IUCAW) Meeta Pawar briefed about the activities conducted during the Child Safety Week by District Police Durg.
Information about the crimes related to boys and girls were given by the police teams by visiting various schools, hostels, public places, bus stands, railway stations, parks, malls, etc.
In his address, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Anant Sahu questioned the children about the emergency numbers of the police. The children in their reply uttered the toll free numbers including Dial 112, 1091, 1098 and the contact number of Raksh Team. Probationary Superintendent of Police Jitendra Yadav informed the children about preparations for competitive examinations, level of studies, how to prepare for competitive examinations like PSC, UPSC, etc. The children were very excited to receive such information.
Senior Superintendent of Police Badri Narayan Meena encouraged the children by explaining how one should prepare for competitive examinations, what subjects they should choose, along with studies, children should play sports, etc. The children asked curious questions and asked the SSP about the process to become a police officer.
Ajay Kalyani spoke about the ill effects of intoxication and the difficulties that the family has to face due to addict members. He also informed about how the organization helps in de-addiction.
Various units of Durg Police like traffic wing conducted awareness sessions for the children. The students were informed about the rules of traffic, the rules of driving a vehicle, etc. Information related to cyber crime was given by Cyber Cell. Information was given about the crime related to the POCSO Act by the SHO of Mahila Thana, Inspector C Tirkey.
Children were briefed on topics like Juvenile Justice Act and human trafficking by Inspector Prabha Rao (IUCAW). The children were detailed about the working of the police station by the Jewra Sirsa outpost in-charge, Inspector Sitaram. The children were also informed about the good touch-bad touch and the emergency number of the police by the Assistant Sub-Inspector Sangeeta Mishra from the women’s Raksha team. The children present were also taught the tricks of self-defence by the Raksha Team.
Rangoli competition, essay and painting competition were organized in the school premises. Senior Superintendent of Police and other officers inspected the rangolis. Children participated enthusiastically in the competition. Durg Police rewarded the winners to encourage them.
