Parri Dai Canal lining broken in many places

Fingeshwar, Jun 27:
There is a prevalent jinx over the under construction canal costing over 44 crores, in the district, as severe snags in technical aspects in the canal lining work has been reported. The lining is broken in many places; though the water level now is considerably low. Parri Dai Canal, which spreads over 45 Km, joining Fingeshwar distributary Branch Canal 35 Kms altogether, is in news once gain, as the work reinstated after 2019, is showing major fallouts, with public representatives and contractors coming face to face over the poor quality of work. Alleging partisanship between local politicians and the contractors and firm involved in the canal work, BJP leaders of the area have asked for the intervention of the State Government to dig out the substandard materials used in the construction and technical expertise sidelined before starting the construction. They have alleged that, the slope made for the lining, has less cement than recommended, and vibrator and paver machines were also not used to make the slope strong as per standards. The cement in the slope is falling out in many places as; enough water was not used to texture it, during the summer season, when the major slot of the work was being done. It is interesting to note that, the canal work was proposed in 2009, of total net worth 30crores,but was halted over alleged corruption charges over the then, Executive Engineer, and firms dealing with the construction. Later in 2019, after a change in the State Government, the net worth of the project has been increased to 44 crores, but still the quality of the much awaited project of the region fails to come to the standards of engineering and canal laying provisions. However Executive Engineer PK Anand, leading the project has denied claims of usage of substandard building materials.
