State government should continue the services of contract nurses: Dr Saroj

Bhilai, Jun 02: Nurses working on the post of ANM in Health Department od Durg recently met Rajya Sabha MP Dr Saroj Pandey and sought support against the decision whereby they have been served notice of termination from their service.
Dr Saroj has extended here support to the nurses and appealed to the state government not to terminate the services of the female nurses and sought some amicable solution to the issue. She stated that for the last one and a half years, the corona epidemic has wreaked havoc in the entire country.
Its second wave had engulfed the entire Chhattisgarh and in that also the Durg district was one of the most affected. To deal with this epidemic and for the expansion of health services, the Durg District Health Department gave contract appointment to in September 2020.
These nurses discharged their responsibilities to full capacity with commitment and performed the task of corona warriors even by risking their lives, showing women empowerment during the first and second wave of corona. Still on May 25, 2021, the Health Officer of Durg District, served notice of termination of service after 7 days, which is unfair.
Dr Saroj Pandey has written a letter in this regard to the State Health Minister TS Singhdeo, demanding that the contractual appointment of these nurses be continued. In her letter, she said that women power has done the work of getting rid of corona and providing relief to the general public by putting their families and themselves in danger. Most of them have left their previous work for appointment to this post.
In such a situation, the crisis of employment will arise in front of their family. She further mentioned in the letter that in the wake of the possibility of a third wave of corona we will have to further strengthen health services.
Therefore, it is necessary for the Health Minister to consider the problems of these ANMs in sensitivity and continue their contracts so that they can also get relief and health services can also be strengthened to fight the coming crisis.
