Governor inaugurates International Junior Tennis Tournament

Bhilai, Mar 15: On Monday, Governor AnusuiyaUikey inaugurated the World Tennis Tour – J5 in BSP Tennis Complex in Civic Centre, Bhilai. Adressing the gathering, she said it is a historic achievement for Bhilai and Chhattisgarh.
The new generation is also exploring career in sports and are doing well in this field also. Through this event, the talent of Chhattisgarh state will inspiration to move forward. She tried her hand in this game for 5 minutes.
The ITF World Junior Tennis Tournament is being organized under the aegis of International Tennis Federation and All India Tennis Association in collaboration with Chhattisgarh Pradesh Tennis Association and Bhilai Steel Plant.
Governor said that all are familiar with the importance of sports in life. Just as good education and values are essential for life, in the same way sports is important for a healthy and energy-filled life. A new phase of development of sports has started in our country. Changes are also visible in people’s attitude towards sports. The important aspect is that the talents of the country and the state are now exploring their career and future through sports. This is a good sign and she believes that the dreams of the players will come true.
She said that by organizing events like junior tournaments, we provide great relief from mental stress and trigger positive energy among the denizens. Sports create the ability to fight under any circumstances and against every challenge.
Sports teach us to never lose courage and to continue our work. At the same time, it also makes us patient because if any player loses patience then it can cause defeat for him and his team. It also teaches that one should keep on fighting till the last moment and should never give up.
She added that there is vast potential for development of sports in Chhattisgarh. Being a rural and tribal dominated area, energetic talents are available in this region. It is noteworthy that 110 players are participating in this tournament, including players from India, America, Spain, France, Belgium, Romania and Kazakhstan.
The program was chaired by Anirban Dasgupta, Director-in-charge of BSP. Chhattisgarh Olympic Association General Secretary Gurcharan Singh Hora was also present on the occasion.
