Gang of notorious thieves busted

Bhilai, Dec 02: With the arrest of five ruffians including two juveniles, police claimed to have solved a number of theft incident which occurred in locked houses of the city. Kingpin of the gang used to conduct recce and then made the juveniles commit the theft. They targeted the locked houses in Bhilai Nagar and Bhatti Police Station areas. One of the five accused is the owner of Tara Jewellers, who purchased the stolen jewellery. Booty worth Rs 7.5 lakh including the vehicle used in the theft and gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh has been seized from them.
ASP (City) Sanjay Dhruw informed that the accused are identified as Harjit Singh (28) son of Late Paramjimat Singh a resident of Camp 02 Chhawani; Rohit Shah (18) son of Omprakash Shah a resident of Khursipar; Pankaj Kumar Soni (27) son of Late Rajendra Kumar Soni (owner of Tara Jewellers) a resident of Camp 02, Power House and two juveniles.
Dhruw informed that under the routine crime prevention exercise, four suspects were taken in custody and during interrogation, they confessed to have committed thefts at several locked houses in Bhilai Township. They further disclosed that Pankaj Kumar Soni, owner of Tara Jewellers used to purchase the stolen jewellery. Harjeet Singh and Rohit Shah used to conduct recce and identify the targets. On their instructions, the juveniles conducted thefts. They confessed to have committed thefts at several houses in Sector 02, 04, 01, 07, 08 and 05 of Bhilai Township. Police recovered stolen booty and vehicles used in crime from the possession of the accused. The accused have been arrested and sent to jail on judicial remand.
