‘Women railway employees play important role in train operations’

For the safe and secure travel in railways, women employees play an important role and are working in different areas like guard, engineer, TTE, track maintainer, RPF and station master. In SECR at present 3257 women are working and out of them 37 are in gazetted post while 3220 are in non- gazette post. There are 40 female drivers, 10 guards, 13 station masters, 404 track maintainers, 103 RPF personnel and in other departments. SECR takes care about their health and safety by conducting health check-up camps from time to time. Sanitary Napkin Vending machines have been established at several places in the zone. Women Committees have been formed to address the problems and complaints of female staff. At important station separate waiting halls exist for women, baby feeding corner in the station and exclusive allotment of six berths in per coach of the sleeper class for women travelling alone and three lower berths in AC-III and II for women and senior citizens.
