We would not deter from our decision in farmers’ interest: CM

Raipur, Dec 07: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that under no circumstances, Chhattisgarh Government would not deter from its decisions in interest of farmers and villagers. Our priority is to make farmers, villagers, tribal people, women and all the sections of society prosperous and self-dependent. Baghel added that Central Government is purposelly creating obstacles in paddy procurement at support price, gunny bag supply, custom milling and other works in the state. But despite the challenges, we would not let any inconvenience touch the farmers and continue the paddy procurement at support price in the state. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was addressing a Kisan Sammelan and felicitation ceremony organized in a private hotel in capital city Raipur on Monday. Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, Advisor to Chief Minister Pradeep Sharma were present on this occasion.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel further said that in a few days, our government would complete three years of its tenure. We have completed this journey together with people from every section and community of Chhattisgarh. He said that his government has earned the confidence of people. Besides loan waiver for farmers, waiver of irrigation tax, we are procuring paddy at support price continuously as per our promise.
Chief Minister said that we have started Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana to provide farmers the fair price for their produce, to enhance crop productivity and to encourage crop diversification. Under this scheme, exchange grant is being provided to the farmers for all the Kharif crops as well as for the horticulture crops and plantation. Farmers of Kharif marketing year 2020-21 have been paid three installments under this scheme, the fourth installment will be paid by March. Referring to the payment made to farmers as the third installment on November 1, just before Diwali, Chief Minister said that in Chhattisgarh, farmers, villagers, laborers as well as traders had a cheerful Diwali, as they received the aid under the scheme at the appropriate time.
Referring to the demand of 5.25 lakh bales of gunny bags from the Government of India paddy procurement in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister said that till date, Chhattisgarh has not been provided even one lakh bales of gunny bags. Despite the delay in supply, we have started procuring paddy and we are arranging gunny bags through farmers, rice millers and PDS shops. Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that this year Central Government has refused to take ‘Usna’ rice from Chhattisgarh. This decision of Central Government is not at all in favor of farmers, millers and laborers of Chhattisgarh. This will interfere with the disposal of paddy. Chief Minister said that considering the current shortage of DAP, steep hike in DAP prices and further shortage in supply is anticipated in the near future. But Government of India is completely silent on this matter. Chief Minister said that unavailability of DAP would adversely affect the production of food grains and also nation’s economy in the long run. He said that we will overcome the shortage of DAP in the state with vermi compost and super compost production.
On this occasion, Chief Minister felicitated the farmers of the state and self-help groups who have done remarkable work in the field of agriculture and allied production and business. On the occasion, Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamalpreet Singh, Managing Director of Godhan Nyay Mission, Dr. S. Bharathidasan, Director Agriculture Mr. Yashwant Kumar, Public Relations Commissioner Mr. Deepanshu Kabra and other officials and a large number of farmers were also present.
