Raipur, Feb 01:

Chhattisgarh Assembly Leader of Opposition Dr. Charandas Mahant while reacting on the Union Budget, said that turning away from current problems and showing dreams of 2047 is a big joke on the public and termed the Interim Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as directionless, hollow budget that is drowning in debt.

Leader of Opposition Dr Charandas Mahant said that the increasing debt in the country is the result of the wrong policies of the Modi government. Today the country is drowned in debt of 81% of GDP. There was a debt of Rs 64 lakh crore in 2014-15, which has increased to Rs 173 lakh crore in 2023-24 under the Modi government.

He further said that in 2014, Modi government had promised that by 2022 everyone will have a permanent house, farmers’ income will double, inflation will reduce in 100 days, petrol diesel will reduce, 100 smart cities will be built. Bullet train was going to run, there was talk of one country one tax, two crore jobs were to be provided every year.

He said that the Modi government at the Centre has done the work of cheating every section of the country in the last 10 years. While the big industrial houses have been directly and indirectly benefited by various unethical methods, the Modi government has cleverly done away with the rights of the middle class and the poor by abolishing the subsidy on expensive gas cylinders. The work of destroying their rights has been done. They will have to suffer the consequences of injustice done to every class and increasing the gap between rich and poor.
