Shri Dhanwantri Yojna to benefit urban bodies

Koriya, Oct 17: As per the announcement made by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, retail concessional medicine shops will be opened in all the urban bodies of the district to make available cheap drugs and surgical items at a cheaper rate. These medicine shops will be operated under Shree Dhanwantri Yojana, and will remain open 24*7.
The scheme and its allotment opening was discussed by District Collector Shyam Dhawade, in weekly review meeting here, where he instructed officials to start the medicine counter at the earliest .Under this scheme, one shop each will be opened in six urban bodies including Chirmiri Municipal Corporation area under Korea district, which is speculated to be operational by the month of November.
In these shops, more than two hundred and fifty types of medicines for cold, cough, fever, diabetes, antibiotic, allergy, thyroid, heart disease etc. will be available at affordable rates, whereas surgical items including BCG, DPT, Hepatitis B, Measles Vaccine, Tetanus Injection, Sugar Test Kit, Pregnancy Diagnostic Kit will also be available at discounted rates from these shops.
Sanjeevani medicines and materials of Forest Department will also be sold in cheap medicine shops, as this will not only increase the sales of Sanjeevani’s products, but the people dependant on collection of forest products will avail livelihood through this scheme.
The implementation and monitoring of this scheme in the district will be done by Korea District Urban Public Service Society, and with the opening of cheap medicine shops in the city, the dependence on expensive branded medicines will be reduced and the common man will get high quality medicines at affordable rates.
