Police arrests notorious teenage burglar, juvenile accomplice

Raipur, Jan 27: Raipur Police Cyber Cell on Wednesday arrested a notorious teenage burglar and his juvenile accomplice from Sanjay Nagar locality and recovered from them cash and ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh which they had stolen from a locked house in Chhattisgarh Nagar on the intervening night of January 4-5 last. According to police, house owner Sunil Kumar Verma, along with his family, had been to Mowa on the night of January 4 to celebrate the birthday of his nephew. With the function getting over late in the night, they all stayed back at the residence of Sunil’s elder brother. At about 5:00 am on January 5, Sunil received a call from his neighbour intimating about the burglary.
Arriving at the house soon afterwards, Sunil found that the main door’s lock and the bedroom’s lock were broken and lying on the floor. The almirah in the bedroom was also broken open from there the intruders had taken away all the cash and ornaments kept in it. He then complained the burglary in Tikrapara police station following which an offence was registered under Section 457, 380 IPC against unidentified burglars and an intense hunt was launched to nab the culprits. With no substantial clue being obtained in the investigation, Raipur Police Cyber Cell was also pressed into investigation and it was soon tipped off that notorious teenage burglar Anas Khan of Sanjay Nagar has been seen lavishly spending since last few days. Knowing very well about his criminal record since he was a juvenile, police on Wednesday picked him up for interrogation. As anticipated, the suspect straightway refused of involvement in any burglary but could not withstand intense interrogation and ultimately confessed the crime. He also told police about his juvenile accomplice with whom the burglary was committed.
Police then took Anas to his house from where cash and ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh from his possession. Following this recovery, police also arrested his juvenile accomplice and is now interrogating them further about more possible burglaries.
