Illegal sand mining and storage in full swing

Konta, Dec 11: Konta, the assembly constituency of cabinet minister and MLA Kawasi Lakhma, is in the news these days for illegal sand mining and storage. Contractor Shailendra Bahadur Singh (Pramod Rathore) in Dornapal of Sukma district is so strong in the minister’s area that despite getting it done a week ago, in broad daylight in front of the police station, the contractor has more than 50 hiva (tipper) vehicles. The sand is being excavated and stored on the Jagargunda road.
Illegal mining of sand is being done by sand mafia from Penta through Chain Mountain. Sand is being dumped on Jagargunda road near Dornapal’s hospital after illegal mining. Under the protection of the Mining Department, more than 50 hiva (tipper) vehicles are illegally transporting sands from Penta.
There is no one to take the interest of illegal mining whereas the government is being duped of lakhs of rupees by the contractors due to the illegal work being done daily.
Yogendra Singh District Mining Officer does not receive calls from scribes. For information on illegal mining, District Mining Officer Yogendra Singh was contacted over phone continuously for 3 days but he did not give any answer.
Konta SDM Bansingh Netam, was contacted on phone, he told that I have received the information about sand mining through you, now action will be taken by sending the team. But till now no team has come and no action has been taken.
