IIIT conducts its flagship DARPAN workshop

Raipur, Jun 27:
IIIT-Naya Raipur conducted Career Guidance Workshop “DARPAN”, annually, for its first year students, in the month of February. This year it got delayed due to the pandemic and was conducted online from June 24-26, 2021, for all the first year students who joined the institute in December 2020. The workshop provides a unique opportunity to the first year students to identify their strengths and interests and pursue opportunities as per their potential. During the workshop, the students develop a firm understanding of their long-term and short-term goals with the help of SWOT analysis, i.e. they identify and list down their Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. Each student is guided to self-introspect and prepare and deliver a presentation before the participating members.
DARPAN is a unique initiative of IIIT-NR, which enables its B. Tech. students to plan their professional career right in their first year and then work towards their plans for the next three years. The workshop also helps the students in sharpening their presentation, public speaking and soft skills. To facilitate the students to subsequently work towards their goals identified through this workshop, IIIT-NR has setup a Center for Professional Development that offers the resources and guidance to the students. Holistic development of all its students has been the focus of IIIT-NR right from the very beginning, in addition to providing them state-of-art technical knowledge and skills.
Dr. Pradeep K. Sinha, Director IIIT-NR, firmly believes that the four years spent by the students in professional institutes are the most valuable part of their lives and hence they should be guided in the right direction during their stay in the institute. Hence, he personally mentors the students during the workshop. The participating students also expressed that they found the workshop very useful and helpful. Swarup Yeole and Kotha Aditya said that they were quite fascinated by exploring themselves through DARPAN workshop. Apoorwa Gupta said “I had a tough time deciding what is my call for future. I had been evading this till now. But the workshop helped me in finding this”. TavishaThaware said “Life is all about becoming a better version of yourself. This workshop helped me in understanding that”. Subhanshu Arya said “It was very interesting and innovative to think what we will like to do in life”.
Dr. Sresha Yadav Nee Ghosh, Assistant Professor, Humanities and Social Sciences and in-charge of Center for Professional Development, was the overall coordinator of this workshop. Ashish Patle, Aman Kumar, Avi Bansal and Bodicherla Digvijay Sri Sai were the student coordinators of the workshop.
