Help desks to be set up at all three airports of state

Raipur, Nov 30: The Health Department of the State Government has given instructions for proper monitoring and extensive precautions in view of the new variant of the corona virus Omicron found in South Africa. The department has issued a circular to all the collectors giving detailed guidelines for speedy detection and prevention of new variants of COVID-19.
Instructions have been issued to set up help desks at all the three airports of the state, Raipur, Bilaspur and Jagdalpur, as per the guidelines of the Central Government for screening of those coming from abroad and gathering information related to them besides taking necessary actions for their vaccination and quarantine. The Health Department, in coordination with the State Surveillance Unit, has instructed all the districts to take information about the people coming from abroad on international travel every day. Persons who have not completed their seven-day quarantine period after coming to India have been asked to ensure that the seven-day home-quarantine is followed. RTPCR tests of such travellers should be done on 8th day and send their samples should be sent to Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) if they test positive.
The department has asked all the districts to increase the number of COVID-19 tests for prevention and quick detection of new variants. All the districts have been asked to ensure corona testing as per the set target. For identification and monitoring of new variants, at least five percent of the samples that come positive in the RTPCR test daily in every district should be sent to WGS.
The Health Department has asked to take necessary action to achieve 100% target of corona vaccination in all the districts. Collectors have been instructed to do wide publicity for following the habits of COVID Appropriate Behavior like wearing masks, mutual distance and washing hands from time to time.
