Goddess Saraswati worshipped on Basant Panchami

Raipur, Feb 16: Saraswati Puja was performed on the occasion of Basant Panchami at different parts of the city on Tuesday. People, especially students worshipped Saraswati, the goddess of wisdom and knowledge on this occasion. Saraswati idols in the school and college campuses were worshipped from the morning hours followed by the distribution of Prasad and Khichdi.
Saraswati Puja was also celebrated with religious fervor and traditional gaiety in a majority of Bengali households in the city. Babies and young children were encouraged to write first words with their fingers in front of the deity under guidance of the Purohit.
Like every year Bengali Kalibadi Samiti organised Saraswati Puja. Devotees dressed in yellow offered ‘Pushpanjali’ seeking blessings of Goddess Saraswati for wisdom. Young children performed ‘Lekhni Puja’ (writing on slate) before start of formal education. Bengali Kalibadi Samiti president Suryakant Sur said that ‘Bhog’ (food made of rice) could not be offered to Goddess and distributed among devotees this year due to Coronavirus pandemic.
Students of Kamladevi Sangit Mahavidyalaya too participated in Saraswati Puja along with music teachers. Saraswati Puja was also performed in Brahmanpara Satyanarayan Mandir, Gayatri Shakti-Peeth Samta Colony.
