‘Face Mask violation penalty increased to Rs 500’

Central Chronicle News Raipur, Mar 24: Chhattisgarh Government on Wednesday increased the penalty over not wearing mask or face cover to protect the spread of corona virus from existing Rs 200 to Rs 500. Cabinet Minister and Spokesperson of Chhattisgarh Government Ravindra Choubey provided the above information here. He said that government has taken the above step as part of the exercise to ensure strict measures to check spread of corona virus in the second wave. He said that violators have to pay the penalty of Rs 500 on being caught without wearing face mask. Choubey further stated that although scenario is not good but still the situation is not such that lockdown or night curfew could be imposed in Chhattisgarh. He directly ruled out any possibilities of lockdown here. He said that District Collectors of Raipur, Durg and Rajnandgaon have been directed to take strict measures to check further spread of corona virus. Strict monitoring of government and social events would be taken out by administration. It is notable that during the last three-four days, more than 1000 cases of Covid 19 have been found. Raipur and Durg are considered to be heavily affected with the above virus. Positivity rate is also high in Rajnandgaon and Bilaspur.
Meanwhile, the Health Department on Wednesday reported nearly 2000 fresh cases of corona virus in Chhattisgarh with Durg District registering highest of nearly 700 cases whereas Raipur too registered more than 500 cases for third consecutive day here.
