ED arrests Special Secy Excise deptt AP Tripathi from Mumbai
In connection with Rs 2000 cr liquor scam

In the morning of Friday May 12, the team of Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids. The CBI team raided in Durg and ED at three places in Raipur. ED team raided Hotel and Cable businessman Gurucharan Singh Hora and Hotel owner of Shamrock Greens and liquor trader Mandeep Chawla and ‘Bidi’ businessman Diyalal Meghji. The CBI team raided house of businessman Kothari brothers in Durg.
ED has arrested the Special Secretary Excise Department AP Tripathi from Mumbai and brought him to Raipur by morning flight. After his medical check-up there were plans to produce him in the court by afternoon hours. An officer from the Indian telecom Department, AP Tripathi has been arrested on charges of alleged involvement in the liquor scam. After interrogation with him, ED officials got his medical tests done and then in the afternoon there were plans to produce him in the Court of Special Judge Ajay Singh Rajput.
It is notable here that right since Friday morning itself, ED officials have started the raids. There are reports that house of businessman Gurucharan Singh Hora was raided in Devendra Nagar. The ED team entered his house at 5:00 in the morning and started the search there. He is also reported to be linked with the Rs 2000 cr liquor scam, as disclosed by ED.
In case of Gurucharan Singh Hora there are no details available. But it is confirm that the very hotel in which Anwar Dhebar, (brother of Mayor Aijaz Dhebar) was arrested belongs to Gurucharan Singh Hora. It is notable here that GS Hora is also general secretary of Olympic Association.
ED’s then raided Hotel Shamrock Greens owner and liquor trader Mandeep Chawla in context of Income Tax case which was filed in Tees Hajari Court. It is learnt the Mandeep Chawla is big supplier in Agriculture department and has got the contract of seeds and other with him or to those who are closely associated with him.
The third raid was on Diyalal Meghji at his DM Plaza and DM Vatika in Baijnathpara. Meghaji is group of 7 brothers and lives at Naman DM Vatika in Khamardih. They are reported to have acquired land of farmers in Naya Raipur acting as syndicate.
