Villagers demand closure of ‘market tax’, ‘pasara fee’

Raipur, Nov 30: The residents of Nardaha, Tehsil Arang in a memorandum submitted to the District Collector Raipur informed him that the market tax and ‘pasara fees’ from market area of local village is still being charged from poor families in Gram Nardaha, despite declaration in this regard by CM Bhupesh Baghel to close it last on Oct 25, 2021 during Shakambhari Jayanti. The residents of Gram Nardaha have demanded strict action against the Sarpanch Janpad Panchayat Arang,
The villagers of Gram Nardaha informed that this market tax and ‘pasara fees’ has been closed in many other villages and the Sarpanch of these villages are adhering to CM’s declaration. But in Gram Nardaha this tax and ‘pasara’ fees is still being charged. Villagers alleged that in the present time with inflation going high and rates of commodities increasing each day, the percentage of profit margin has also reduced considerably and many a poor villagers earning livelihood through selling of vegetables and other products in local market in villages are made to pay the same through their pockets.
So the villagers of Nardaha demanded Collector Raipur to take strict action against the Sarpanch Janpad Panhayat Arang for not closing this market tax and ‘pasara’ fees so that the poor villagers can gain some earning and take care of their families.
Among the villagers from Gram Nardaha who submitted memorandum to Collector Raipur included Hemlata Verma, Jitendra Verma, Kaushal Verma, Rohit Verma, Mansingh Patel, Karan Verma and others.
