Collector inaugurates Sanitary Napkin Production unit in Khamhar

Raipur, Aug 13: ‘Pawana Abhiyan’ has been started on the initiative of Collector Bhim Singh to promote menstrual hygiene in the district. The goal of the campaign is to make Raigarh a 100% menstrual district. Under this, women in the district have to be made aware about menstrual hygiene and to motivate them to use sanitary napkins. In order to provide sanitary napkins to women at affordable rates in the district, a sanitary napkin production machine worth Rs 11 lakh was inaugurated by Collector Bhim Singh. On this occasion, he said that by making machine production here, good quality sanitary napkins would be made available to women in the entire district at a lower price than the pads available in the market. Napkins will be available in villages through Anganwadi centers, fair price shops. Along with this, cleanliness ‘sakhi’ has also been appointed for each village which will make women aware about menstrual hygiene along with providing sanitary napkins.
Collector Bhim Singh spoke to the people present there during this time. He said that a survey was conducted in the district regarding menstrual hygiene. In which most of the women in rural areas of Dharamjaygarh and Lailunga area did not use napkins during menstruation. In the absence of adequate sanitation, women have to face many types of diseases. This campaign is being run to remove this. He said that women and adolescent girls need to be aware in this regard. At the same time, men also need to be more sensitive from the point of view of health security of women. So that women can get sanitary napkins as per their requirement at the time of menstruation and they can avoid serious diseases. The machine installed in Khamhar is of high production capacity. With this, 10,000 napkins can be produced per day. At present 12 women of Uma Self Help Group of Khamhar are engaged in production work. They have also been given training for this. A production unit has been set up at Van Dhan Kendra in Khamhar. Where along with it a sterilization unit has also been installed for hygiene maintenance. During this, SDM Mr. Sambit Mishra, Additional CEO, District Panchayat Mr. B. Tigga, District Education Officer Mr. RP Aditya, CEO, District Mr. Patel, DMC Mr. Devangan along with district and district panchayat officers-employees, women and villagers of the group were present.
