Prohibitory order imposed by collector

Raipur, Nov 26: Collector and District Magistrate Sourabh Kumar has issued a prohibitory order under the Raipur Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 for Birgaon Municipal Corporation area and ??ward number 14 of Gowra-Nawapara Municipal Council in Raipur district in view of civic elections and civic by-elections. With the release of the urban body election programme by the Chhattisgarh State Election Commission, Raipur, the model code of conduct has become effective.
The Collector and District Magistrate took preventive measures to ensure compliance with the orders issued by the Chhattisgarh State Election Commission, to maintain law and order and public peace in the district during the election and to make the election process smooth, fair and peaceful.
No political party or candidate will take out armed processions or distribute objectionable posters. This order will not apply to those government officers/employees who are required to keep sticks or weapons for the performance of their work. This order will also not apply to those government employees,who have been appointed as special police officers to maintain law and order during elections and polling. This order will also not apply to those persons who are required to keep sticks as support due to physical infirmity, old age and lameness.
No person or group of persons shall hold any meeting or take out any rally or procession without the permission of the competent authority, within the area under the area of ????Ward No. 14 of the Municipal Corporation Birgaon and Municipal Council Gowra-Nawapara of Raipur district. Nor will anyone protest. The person / party who violates this order will be punishable under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. This order has been made with immediate effect and for the period till the end of the election.
