Teachers training workshop concludes in Medical College

Raipur, Aug 18:
In order to improve the quality of medical education with training to medical teachers, a three-day Teachers Training Workshop was organized by the National Medical Commission under the National Faculty Development Programme at Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College. As many as 30 medical teachers received training on the subject of Revised Basic Course (RBCW) and Attitude Ethics and Communication Module (AETCOM) in the three-day workshop organised under the aegis of the Medical Education Unit of the Medical College, from Wednesday 11 August to Friday 13 August.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr Vishnu Dutt, Director Medical Education and Dean Medical College. Dr Atul Manohar Rao Deshkar (Professor and Head Physiology Rajnandgaon Medical College and National Medical Council Observer) was the observer of this workshop.
The workshop was organised to sensitize teachers about new concepts in teaching and assessment methods and help them develop knowledge and clinical skills required to play the role of competent and effective teacher, administrator, researcher and mentor, acquire competency in communication, ethics and behavioral skills. Training was imparted to the medical teachers on topics such as assisting the doctors, updating knowledge with the use of modern information and research methodology tools.
Giving information about the Teachers Training Workshop, Dr Manju Singh, Coordinator of Medical Education Unit and Head of the Department, said that the Teachers Training Programme had been made mandatory for every medical college by the Medical Council of India. Under this, a three-day Teachers Training Programme was organized by the Medical Education Unit.
This workshop was organised for upgradation of medical teachers towards new curriculum of NMC (National Medical Commission) and new teaching-learning method and assessment method which will help all medical students to become efficient doctors. According to the new curriculum by NMC in the year 2019, it has been made mandatory for all medical teachers to adopt new methods by changing the old methods of teaching to make students a good doctor to teach and serve the society. The workshop was attended by Dr Nirmal Verma, Dr RL Khare, Dr Pratibha Jain Shah, Dr Usha Joshi, Dr Rabia Parveen Siddiqui, Dr Rupam Gahlot, Dr Nidhi Pandey, Dr Chandrakala Joshi, Dr Sarita Das, Dr Jagriti Agrawal, Dr Snigdha Jain, Dr Hansa Banjara, Dr DP Lakra, Dr Jyoti Jaiswal and other medical teachers.
The Medical Council of India and MCI Regulation on Graduate Medical Education, 1997 has made establishment of Medical Education Units (MEUs) or departments compulsory for all the medical colleges so as to help faculty members to avail benefit of modern education technique.
