Cyber fraud dupes man of Rs 5000

Raipur, Nov 22: In an instance of cyber fraud reported in Kotwali police, an unidentified fraud has reportedly duped the complainant of Rs 5000 on pretext of assisting a friend was ailing and admitted in a hospital in Delhi.
According to police, complainant Anan Singh Kuswaha of Police Lines on Monday morning received a call over telephone number 69131-06812 wherein the called told him of his close friend Lakhesh Sagar. The caller further told that Sagar is ailing and is admitted in a hospital in Delhi and needs immediate financial assistance. With the complainant agreeing to help hid friend, the called siphoned Rs 5000 through his Paytm account.
However, when the complainant called back his friend about receiving the sent amount, he was informed that no money was sought by him and neither had he received any money.
Police, meanwhile, have registered an offence under Section 420 IPC against the holder of the above mentioned phone number and further investigation is now underway.
