Incessant rains throw normal life out of gear

Raipur, Jul 28:
Incessant rains in Raipur and several parts of the district wreaked havoc and threw normal life out of gear on Wednesday.
It started raining at midnight of Monday and showers continued till Wednesday evening.Rainwater stagnated on major streets and low-lying areas, severely affecting vehicular traffic. Passengers at railway station and bus stand have also been facing tough time due to the inundated roads. Though markets in Raipur district remained open but the shopkeepers had to sit idle due to the downpour. Farmers of the district are also facing huge loss as their paddy crops have been flooded with the rain water. Two days incessant rain has not only brought down the temperature considerably but life has also come to a standstill in Raipur. The roads and roundabouts of Raipur city have also been flooded, vehicular traffic has been badly hit as several vehicles broke down due to waterlogging. The Meteorological Department has issued a quick forecast bulletin for the next 4 hours. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a strong possibility of moderate to heavy rains in 13 districts of the state including its adjoining districts. Meteorologist HP Chandra has issued this quick forecast in the situation from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm.
He has said that in the next 4 hours, Balrampur, Surguja, Surajpur, Jashpur, Korea Korba, Pendra Road, Bilaspur, Mungeli, Raigarh, Janjgir-Champa, Kabirdham, Bemetara and adjoining districts may show cloudy mood. There is a strong possibility of moderate to heavy rain with thunder and lightning at one or two places in the state. Meteorologist Chandra has shared preventive measures during lightning strikes and heavy rains in the coming days.
