Villagers walk 50 kms to apprise Upper Collector of their grievances

Mainpur, Jan 31: The far-off forest villages of Mainpur block area which include village panchayat Kuchenga, Nagbel, Gamiguda and surrounding villages are gripped with different problems and inmates of these villages walked 50 km for two days to meet Upper Collector. They narrated their grievances and demanded for a solution.
Led by former janpad member Sukchandra Dhruv these villagers walked 50 km to reach district headquarter Gariabandh. In their memorandum addressed to collector and which was received by Upper Collector J R Chourasia they alleged that patwari of halka no 08 illegally charged Rs 500 each from every farmer for Girdawali. Even then as their registration was not done many of the farmers were deprived from selling their produce of paddy and maize. The villagers informed that they have complained to Mainpur SDM on this issue but as no action has been taken they are forced to walk 50 km for meeting the collector with their grievances. Through the memorandum villagers demanded availability of potable water, road, health facilities , education and power supply in their villages.
What Upper Collector said
In this connection Upper Collector talking to scribes said, villagers from far-off forest villages came to meet the collector with their grievances and also due to lapses on the part of patwari many villagers were deprived of selling their produce. Further as they are living in forest villages basic infrastructure related problems could not be solved. All these demands will be put forth before the collector and action will be taken at an early date. A review meeting will be called in which officers of that area and villagers of these villages would be invited for interaction.
