NTPC Lara should provide jobs to the displaced people on priority basis: Baghel

Raipur, Dec 06: Appointment letters distributed to 49 eligible displaced people of NTPC Lara, on special initiative of Chief Minister
As a result of the consistent efforts and special initiative of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, 49 displaced people from 9 villages, who were affected by the land acquisition for NTPC Lara Thermal Power Project, were provided permanent appointment letters by NTPC Lara. These beneficiaries have been given permanent jobs as per their qualification and eligibility. Chief Minister attended this programme via video conferencing from his residence office. Baghel thanked people for getting the stable job. It is noteworthy that earlier as well, six displaced people were provided jobs. On instructions of CM Baghel, advertisements were released for recruitment on the remaining posts, examination was held and based on the results, appointment letters were given to 49 people today. In this way, a total of 55 displaced people have been given jobs as per their eligibility.
NTPC Lara had released advertisement for recruitment on 79 posts of IIT Diploma, Lab Assistant and Assistant General in various skilled trades for the people, who have been displaced after land acquisition. This includes 22 reserved posts, which are yet to be filled. At the programme held today, CM Baghel has given instructions to the officers of NTPC management and Collector Raigarh to take appropriate action to appoint the eligible land-displaced people on the aforementioned posts, as per their qualification. Chief Minister said in his address to the program that the people, who were displaced and were affected by the land acquisition for NTPC Lara, should be provided jobs in NTPC Lara on priority basis as per eligibility. Domiciles of Chhattisgarh should also be given priority in recruitment.
Alok Gupta, ED, NTPC Lara, in his address to the programme, assured that the affected land-displaced people and the domiciles of Chhattisgarh will be given priority in future recruitments, as per the instructions of Chief Minister. Today, appointments were made on 19 posts of IIT Electrician Trade, 9 for IIT Fitter Trade, 5 for Lab Assistant Chemistry, 4 for Diploma Electrical Trade, one for Diploma Mechanical Trade and 11 for Assistant General Posts.
At the meeting with the senior officials of NTPC, Revenue Minister, Chief Secretary, Revenue Secretary and Collector Raigarh held at March 5, 2019, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had given instructions to appoint land-displaced people on non-executive posts in NTPC Lara, as per their eligibility. In the same sequence, advertisements were released for recruitment of land-displaced people on 79 posts of IIT Diploma, Lab Assistant and Assistant General. Based on the written test and skill test held in the first phase, six candidates were given appointment. In November 2020, NTPC Lara had re-released advertisement for recruitment on 73 posts, on instructions of Chief Minister, and after the test, 49 candidates were selected. These candidates were provided appointment letters today.
During the program, MLA Prakash Nayak requested Chief Minister to give preference to the people displaced for NTPC Lara and the domiciles of Chhattisgarh during the recruitment.
Collector Raigarh Bhim Singh informed in the program that NTPC Lara is a super critical technology based power plant, which has 2 units of 800 MW capacity that generated 50% of the power in Chhattisgarh. He informed that 2000 acres of private land in 9 villages- Armuda, Bodajharia, Chapora, Devalsurra, Jhilgitar, Kandagarh, Lara, Mahloi and Riyapali had been acquired for this plant, and 2449 farmers were affected by the land acquisition. An amount of Rs 187 crore has been deposited as compensation for the land acquired by NTPC. He informed that at present 500 people from the affected villages and 550 people from other districts of Chhattisgarh are working at NTPC Lara. Besides, the affected people, including the vehicle-owners, have been provided PAP vendor works and shops in townships. He informed that 1789 farmers affected by this project had opted for the one-time rehabilitation amount of Rs.5 lakh per acre to a maximum of Rs.25 lakh and 31 affected farmers had opted for the annual stipend provided at the rate of Rs.50000 per acre for a maximum of 5 acres land acquired for 30 years. Under both the options, an amount of Rs 118 crore has been provided to the affected farmers so far, and the eligibility of 688 land holders is to be tested by the district administration. Collector also informed about the works done by NTPC under CSR head.
He said that an amount of Rs 2.64 crore has been given by NTPC for the new building of Community Health Center, Pusaur. MLA Mr. Prakash Nayak, Collector Raigarh Mr. Bhim Singh, ED Mr. Alok Gupta of NTPC Lara, AGM HR Mr. Kanhaiya Das and their relatives were present in the program organized in Raigarh.
