Two cyber frauds reported in city

Raipur, Jul 04: Two cyber frauds have been reported in separate parts of the city during last 24-hours. The first case was reported in Sejbahar police while the other was reported in Tikrapara police station.
According to police, complainant Sunil Tripathi of Kamal Vihar received a call from the holder of mobile phone number 91446-58894 wherein the caller informed Sunil that he earned cash back of Rs 999 the recharge he has recently done over Google Pay app. The caller further told him that the reward can be availed instantly by activating the link he will be sending him.
Not suspecting the caller and in greed of Rs 999 cash back, Sunil activated the sent link and this turned out to be major mistake and the fraud immediately siphoned a total of Rs 99999 from his account in three separate transactions.
In another incident, complainant Deepak Kumar Sarve of Tikrapara received a call from mobile phone number 96906-63930 wherein the caller informed him that a link will be sent to him activating which will earn him handsome cash reward. Not suspecting the caller at all, Deepak immediately activated the sent link and this was major mistake as the fraud instantly siphoned Rs 99995 from his bank account in four separate transactions.
Respective police stations have since registered offence under Section 420 IPC against respective holders of the cell phones used in the crime and further investigations are now underway.
