BJP hails inclusion of 12 Tribal Communities into ST list

Rajya Sabha members of Congress from Chh’garh fail to participate in debate, alleges Sao

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday hailed the inclusion of 12 Tribal Communities in the list of Scheduled Tribe after the Rajya Sabha approved the clerical typing error.

Addressing a joint press conference at party office here, the State BJP President Arun Sao and former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh claimed that the 12 Schedule Communities members would now be able to avail the benefits of reservation which was pending for more than 70 years. Terming the decision to be a milestone, the BJP leaders shared the list of the Scheduled Communities who would be benefitted with the amendment.

Sao further hailed the efforts of Union Minister of State for Tribal Welfare Renuka Singh, Lok Sabha member from Sarguja, who had spoke in Rajya Sabha during the debate on the proposal for inclusion after the correction in the spelling mistake.

Sao further took a dig on Congress Members of Parliament representing Chhattisgarh in Rajya Sabha for their absence on key issue. He said that Congress keeps on making tall claims for political mileage but has hardly taken any efforts to provide benefits to the Tribal Communities who would now be able to avail the benefits after a gap of nearly 70 years. Sao said that Congress keeps on remaining absent on key issues and added that it was also failed to make any concrete contribution during the debate on benefits to Other Backward Community recently.

Dr Singh said that the Congress should refrain from making political statement on key issues and instead take steps to provide justice to the weaker section of society. Dr Singh added that the BJP would soon join them in celebrations as it is a happy moments for the Tribals.
