RMC ahead of metros in COVID vaccination

Raipur, Jul 23: About 66.40 percent of the targeted population in Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) area has been vaccinated with the first dose and 19.82 percent of both doses under the important massive vaccination programme for protection from COVID-19. This figure is more than the vaccination done in all the metropolitan cities of the country. In Raipur district too, 60.39 percent people have so far received the first dose and 15.82 percent people have received both the doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
According to a study conducted by Harvard University on vaccination in metropolitan cities, Kolkata tops the list with 61.8% of the people getting the first dose and 21 percent getting the vaccine in both the doses. Vaccination in Raipur Municipal Corporation area is more than the total vaccination done in Kolkata. In Raipur Municipal Corporation area, out of 9.36 lakh people who were targeted for COVID vaccination, 6.22 lakh people have received the first dose of the vaccine and 1.85 lakh have received the second dose. This figure is more than the vaccination done in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Delhi.
Under massive vaccination people about 60.39% people have received first dose while 15.82% people have received both the doses in Raipur district. Out of the target population of 17.52 lakh, 10.58 lakh persons have been given the first dose and 2.77 lakh persons have been given vaccine in both doses in Raipur district. The first dose vaccination has been done in Dharsiwa (65.80 percent), Tilda (61.96 percent), Birgaon urban area (58.09 percent), Abhanpur (49.13 percent), Arang (43.04 percent) in Raipur district. Similarly both the doses of vaccine have been given to 19.82% people in Raipur Municipal Corporation area, 14.15% in Tilda, 11.22% in Abhanpur, 10.32% in Dharsewa, 10.10% in Birgaon Municipal Corporation area and 10.01% in Arang.
