IIT celebrates Int’nl Women’s Day

Raipur, Mar 08: International Institute of Information Technology, Naya Raipur (IIIT-NR) IEEE Student Branch along with Women Welfare Committee, IIIT-NR celebrated International Women’s Day 2021with great zeal and enthusiasm at its campus on March 8, 2021. It was a one-day event. The morning session of the event was organized by Women Welfare Committee, IIIT-NR, and the afternoon session is organized by IIIT-NR IEEE Student Branch.
The program’s morning session started with a motivational talk on women’s empowerment by eminent astrology expert Priti Sinha. She emphasized the importance of women’s upliftment and gender equality in today’s era. The talk was followed by an awareness session on women’s physical health and mental well-being by Ms. Swati Sharma, the renowned Clinical Psychologist. Dr. Sharma advised the audience to keep a watchful eye on their mental well-being while juggling multifold responsibilities.
In the afternoon session, Prof. Rinita Mazumdar of University of New Mexico, USA discussed theHistory of Women’s Day and its historical importance for an equal opportunity society.Prof. Swapna Banerjee, former Head, Department of E & EC, IIT Kharagpur, talked on life and work of Margaret Elizabeth Noble (Sister Nivedita). Margaret Elizabeth Noblewas the one who taught humanity, generation after generation,through herwork and contribution.Dr. Aarti Milind Karande, IEEE Student Branch Counselor, Sardar Patel Institute of Technology, Mumbai discussed about “IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE), promoting women engineers and scientists and inspiring girls around the world to take their academic interests to a career in engineering”. Prof. Asish Kumar Mukhopadhyay, “Margadarshak” of AICTE, Vice-Chairman of IETE, Kolkata Centrehighlightedthe attemptsof AICTE and IETE to give every young Women the opportunity to further her education and prepare for a successful future by “Empowering Women Through Technical Education”.
