Chh’garh receives nearly 8 lakh doses of vaccine

Raipur, May 15: Amidst shortage of vaccine for the age group from 18 years to 44 years, the Chhattisgarh government received major relief on Saturday with nearly 3 lakh doses of Covishield arriving here from Serum Institute and also received nearly 1 lakh doses of Covaxin for the same age group. Apart from it, the Chhattisgarh received nearly 4 lakh additional doses of Covishield from Centre for the vaccination of people above 45 years of age.
According to the information received, Covishield consignment reached here in the morning from Mumbai. After receiving the vaccine, a major part of it was send to the District headquarters for further distribution and subsequent vaccination across Chhattisgarh for both the age group of people. Similarly, nearly one lakh dose of Covaxin vaccine was supplied from Bharat Biotech for the age group of 18 to 44 years which has been kept at State Vaccine Storage Centre. Distribution of these vaccine would be made for vaccination in next three-four days for the people.
It is notable that the vaccination for the age group from 18 to 44 years had been put on hold in APL categories and for Front Line Worriers for the last two days. With the arrival of fresh batch of vaccine, the vaccination process would gain momentum.
It is understood that nearly 12 lakh doses of vaccine would be received by Chhattisgarh government this month for the campaign.
