CM felicitates Sunil Gavaskar with memento

On completion of 50 year of his cricketing career in Int’nl cricket

Raipur, Mar 12: The well-known national and international cricket player Little Master Sunil Gavaskar paid courtesy visit to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at his official residence here on Friday. On this occasion CM extended greetings to him on completion of 50 years in the international cricket and felicitated him with a memento.
CM Baghel during meeting said that it is in order to promote sports and players in the state all possible efforts are being made and this is providing avenues to players to move ahead in their life. Baghel said that infrastructure is being developed speedily in order to develop sports in the state. There is good air connectivity to state for foreign cricket and national cricket players apart from good international level lodging and boarding facilities. CM recalled his childhood period when there was no TV in houses and they used to listen cricket commentary on radio and this running commentary also used to make the sports and cricket players realise the feeling of being in the cricket stadium and witnessing cricket live. In creative and live radio commentary, the sport players used to get best of the sporting recreation in those days.
During meeting with CM Sunil Gavaskar hailed the efforts being made by the state government to promote sports. He hailed the Shaheed Vir Nararayan Singh International Cricket Stadium at Nava Raipur and added that the national and international cricketers are finding it interesting and enjoyable to play cricket here and getting chance to exhibit their cricketing talent. The players here have hailed the making of pitch. During discussions Gavaskar hailed the people of Chhattisgarh for their liking and love for the sports.
It is notable here that Unacademy Road Safety World Series Cricket Series is being orgainsed at Shaheed Vir Narayan Singh Int’nl Stadium in Nava Raipur from March 5 to 21 and in this legends of cricket teams from six different nations are taking part. This championship is being organised jointly by Professional Management Group Mumbai and Chhattisgarh government. During this meeting, Addl. Transport Commissioner Deepanshu Kabra, Chairman Sri Sathya Sai Health and Education Trust C Sriniwas and other senior officers were present.
