Fraud siphons Rs 50000 through cloned ATM card

Raipur, Mar 07: In a sheer instance of ATM card cloning, unidentified fraud siphoned Rs 50000 from the complainant’s bank account. A complaint in this regard was lodged in Civil Lines police station on Saturday.
According to police, complainant Punaram Sahu of Fundahar holds a saving about with UCO Bank and is also availing the ATM facility provided by the bank. While his ATM card was completely in his safe custody, Sahu on February 27 received information about cash withdrawal from his bank account through ATM card. While Sahu was still struggling to find out how this happened, by March 1 he received messages of more cash withdrawal from his bank account using the ATM card.
Sahu then rushed to his bank to find out about the cash withdrawals through his ATM card despite not withdrawing anything. Bank officials then confirmed him that the withdrawals were done through ATM and also informed that all the withdrawals were made from an ATM kiosk next to Shyam Petrol Pump in GE Road near old PHQ building. Sahu then complained the matter at Civil Lines police station where an offence has been registered under Section 420 IPC against unidentified fraud and further investigation is now
underway.
