National Women Commission lauds excellent works of W&CDD during COVID crisis

Raipur, Feb 04: Relief Works conducted in Chhattisgarh during COVID crisis, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, are being appreciated at national level. National Women Commission has lauded the works of Chhattisgarh Women and Child Development Department for the excellent works during COVID crisis. National Women Commission awarded a certificate for the commendable work of field teams of the department in Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh State Women Commission Chairperson Dr Kiranmayee Nayak received the certificate in New Delhi. Today, Dr. Nayak handed over the certificate to Women and Child Development Minister Anila Bhendia in Raipur.
Chief Minister Baghel and Minister Bhendia have congratulated all the field staff including Anganwadi workers, assistants for this achievement. Bhendia said that the Women and Child Development Department worked in high power action mode during the lockdown, under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. While the Anganbadi centers were closed during lockdown, Anganbadi workers and assistants went door-to-door to distribute dry rations and ready-to-eat and created public awareness on prevention of corona infection.

During this period, they also helped in providing elementary education to children and necessary information to the guardians of children. Consistent efforts have been made to eradicate malnutrition in the state, which did not stop even the COVID crisis.
Nayak informed that while addressing the felicitation function for the chairpersons of all the state women commissions in the country organized by National Commission for Women, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister, Prakash Javadekar praised the works done by Chhattisgarh State Commission for the protection of Women and their rights. At the function, Chairperson of National Commission for Women, Rekha Sharma also referred to the Government of Chhattisgarh as alert and sensitive in the matter of women.
Dr. Nayak said that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has given a lot of power to the State Women’s Commission in Chhattisgarh. The Commission is working promptly in providing justice to women at a rapid pace with the cooperation of the police and administration, under the leadership of Chief Minister. Chhattisgarh has mobilized a large number of people to provide justice to women during lockdown. Chhattisgarh Women’s Commission has so far heard 11 hundred cases in 44 public hearings held in the duration of 5 months, out of which about 400 cases have been resolved. Collector and Superintendent of Police of all the districts extend support in holding these public hearings of the Women’s Commission in Chhattisgarh. The instructions of the Women’s Commission are strictly followed.
