Mayor visits dengue affected areas in Raipur

Raipur, Aug 12: Mayor Aijaz Dhebar today visited dengue-affected areas in the city and interacted with the dengue patients to inquire about their well being. The Mayor visited Shahid Churamani Nayak ward in Raipur Municipal Corporation Zone-7 and inspected Uchhala Talab Basti of dengue-affected Ramkund area, Samta Colony and Goyal Hospital. He met dengue patients and inquired about their well being. The Mayor also talked to the doctors to know about well-being of the dengue patients. During his visit to Ramkund area he asked the ward residents to immediately remove stagnant water from coolers for prevention of dengue.
On the instructions of Mayor the Chief Medical and Health Officer’s office will set up free dengue test camps for the convenience of the citizens by sending a team of doctors to all the 10 zones of the Municipal Corporation from August 13. Any citizen can go to the camp to undergo test for dengue. The Mayor has appealed to all the citizens on behalf of the Municipal Health Department to go to free dengue test camps to undergo screening for dengue.
Mayor Dhebar told the people during the intensive public awareness campaign that dengue mosquito bites during the day and that it is necessary to wear full sleeve clothes covering the body completely for complete protection of the body. Dengue can be easily prevented at home in an effective way. He asked the people to immediately empty the water stored in the coolers. Dengue mosquito breeds only in clean and stagnant water, he said.
‘Do not allow water to stagnate anywhere, especially in your home or the surrounding area. Do not allow even a drop of clean water to accumulate in money plants, pots, tyres, utensils, coconut shells. If water logging is seen anywhere, then immediately inform it to the Municipal Corporation, so that the problem of water logging can be solved immediately and mosquito larvae can be destroyed’, the Mayor told people.
Chairman of Corporation General Administration Department Ritesh Tripathi, Zone-7 President Maniram Sahu, Corporator of Shaheed Churamani Nayak Ward Deepak Jaiswal, Vice Chairman of Raipur Development Authority Suryamani Mishra, Zone-7 Commissioner Mahendra Pathak, Corporation Health Officer Vijay Pandey, Assistant Health Officer Dr Tripti Panigrahi along with the concerned officials were present. Mayor Dhebar asked stressed the need to conduct special drive every Sunday to make people alert and aware about dengue.
