Raipur, May 31: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that Yoga is a simple, affordable and easily accessible way to live a healthy life, by practicing which we can protect ourselves from the dangers of present and future. Chief Minister expressed these views while inaugurating the state-wide virtual Yoga practice and Yoga counseling programme on the occasion of World No-Tobacco Day at his office today. Free virtual Yoga classes would be commenced from May 31 and would be conducted for a year.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that today is World No Tobacco Day and the root cause of observing this day is the concern for health of all. And now, the damage to public health caused by Corona virus has become another major concern. The first and second wave of COVID-19 has greatly damaged everyone’s health. Those who have survived the infection are also facing mental stress. Second wave is not under control but the warning for third wave has also been received and we have to be physically and mentally prepared to face that third wave. During the second wave of Corona, we all saw that people with weak immunity were in critical condition.
Chief Minister said that Yoga is such a simple, cheap and accessible way to enhance our immunity and protect ourselves from the dangers of present and future. This is the reason why government has decided to start a virtual yoga program from today. People will be educated through this virtual Yoga classes. People who have recovered from Corona infection, people who are still in home quarantine, people who have taken their first dose of vaccine, senior citizens, people with health concerns, people who want to get rid of their addiction can take advantage of this virtual yoga program.
Presiding over the program, Women and Child Development and Social Welfare Minister Anila Bhendia said that the trend of intoxication and addiction has become frighteningly global. Under these circumstances, regular Yoga practice can really help people in getting rid of their addiction. Yoga has been an invaluable heritage of ancient Indian tradition and culture, which helps in aligning mind, body and soul.
On this occasion, Chief Minister also interacted with senior citizen of Kanker Sanjay Kashi, Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission Physiotherapist Dr. Sharad Tiwari, Yoga instructor Pushkar Choubey through video conferencing. A virtual demonstration of yoga practice was also performed on the occasion. Smt. Reena Baba Saheb Kangale, Secretary, Social Welfare Department, threw light on the outline of the program. Director, Social Welfare P. Dayanand also gave detailed information about the program.
The program was chaired by Social Welfare Minister and Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission Chairperson Anila Bhendia. On this occasion, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary Home Subrata Sahoo, Secretary Social Welfare Department, Reena Baba Saheb Kangale were present at the Chief Minister’s residence office. Director Social Welfare P. Dayanand, senior officers of Chhattisgarh Yoga Commission and Social Welfare Department, citizens from different districts, yoga instructors also joined the program virtually.
