Stock Market: Sensex climbs 210 points, Nifty rises 77 points, to trade at 17,250

The Sensex and the Nifty today posted modest gains in the afternoon trade, snapping a losing streak of four sessions. Domestic stock indices rose amid mixed cues from global share markets. The Sensex at Bombay Stock Exchange was trading above 57,350 points while the Nifty at National Stock Exchange was trading around 17,250 level.

The Sensex climbed 210 points, or 0.37 percent to trade at 57,377 while the Nifty was up 77 points, or 0.45 percent, to trade at 17,250.

In the forex market, the rupee weakened four paise against the US dollar. The domestic currency was trading at 76 rupees and 31 paise against the dollar when reports last came in.
