Sainik Welfare Board Managing committee meet held

15th meeting of State Management Committee (SMC) Meeting of Sainik Welfare Board was held in the Conference Hall of Raj Bhavan under the Chairmanship of Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan on Friday. SMC meeting is meant for finalising various schemes which are rolled out from Flag Day Fund for the welfare of ESM beneficiaries of Chhattisgarh. Many welfare schemes and grants were revised and agumented for the ex-servicemen widows and their dependents in the 15th SMC meetings.
The event was commenced with the welcome of the Governor by the Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain who presented him a potted plant as a token of respect. Thereafter, Director, Directorate Sainik Welfare, Chhattishgarh Brigadier Vivek Sharma, VSM (Retd) Secretary, Amalgamated Special Fund (ASF), gave out a brief to the SMC members on the activities of the Rajya Sainik Board, Chhattisgarh. Secretary, ASF presented the progress on the proceedings of the 14th Amalgamated Special Fund Meeting held on 13 Oct 2022 and then the agenda points of 15th ASF Meeting were discussed.
The meeting was attended General Officer Commanding, Headquarter Madhaya Bharat Area Lieutenant General PS Shekhawat, AVSM, SM, Additional Chief Secretary Home Manoj Kumar Pingua, Officiating Secretary Kendriya Sainik Board, New Delhi, Captain (IN) Satish Kumar, Additional DG Rehabilitation, Central Zone, Lucknow Brigadier Bikram Heeru, Offg Secretary Finance Siddharth Pardesi, Controller Raj Bhavan Sanjay Vishwakarma, Major General Sanjay Sharma (Retd), Wing Commander A Srinivas Rao (Retd) and TR Sahu who are the members of SMC, Chhattisgarh.
During the meeting decisions were taken in the interest of ex-servicemen, widows and their dependents. These included increase in the prescribed age limit for orphan children for financial grant, enhancement in the amount of financial assistance being given to the ESM parent of children studying in Sainik/Military Schools to Rs 30,000/- pa and introduction of ‘Putri Vivaah Shagun’ for the marriage of daughters of ESM thereby further enhancing the grant for daughter’s marriage from Rs 51,000/- to Rs 55,100/-.
Addressing the meeting of the 15th Amalgamated Special Fund, the Governor expressed his happiness to the members for attending the meeting and felt that the ex-servicemen, widows and their families would be benefitted by the decisions taken in the meeting. He extended a special thanks to the members who came from Delhi, Jabalpur and Lucknow to participate in this meeting. He urged the Chief Secretary, Chhattisgarh Government and Additional Chief Secretary Home to resolve the problems of exservicemen and particularly emphasised that the reservation prescribed for the ESM in the State govt jobs should be implemented on ground. He emphasized that it is the responsibility and duty of every one to ensure welfare of these brave ex-soldiers who have dedicated their entire youth in the service of the mother land.
